about me

After graduating from Ball State University (Muncie, Indiana), I began a career in marketing. When my first child was born, I started a monthly parenting publication in Alabama. When we relocated to Texas, I sold the magazine and thus began a freelance writing and editing career. My work has appeared in regional magazines (e.g. Dallas Child) and newspapers (e.g. St. Louis Post-Dispatch), amassing hundreds of articles to my publishing credits. Currently I work remotely as the senior communications specialist for a girls' school in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and have won international awards for my team's work.

I was born and raised in Indiana but like to say I grew up in the South, as I’ve lived primarily there since the age of 25. Because of my moves, I’ve absorbed the many nuances of American culture and people and weave unique characters and settings into my stories. As a member of The Writers' League of Texas, I attend writing conferences and workshops and author events whenever possible. I’ve completed my third book-length manuscript and have a deep affection for librarians and independent booksellers.

On the side, I read, bake, thrift, do yoga, and keep my animals alive on our Texas Hill Country property.
