about me

After graduating from Ball State University (Muncie, Indiana), I began a career in marketing. When my first child was born, I started a monthly parenting publication in Alabama. When we relocated to Texas, I sold the magazine and thus began a freelance writing and editing career. My work has appeared in regional magazines (e.g. Dallas Child) and newspapers (e.g. St. Louis Post-Dispatch), amassing hundreds of articles to my publishing credits. Currently I work remotely as the senior communications specialist for a girls' school in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and have won international awards for my team's work.

I was born and raised in Indiana but like to say I grew up in the South, as Iā€™ve lived primarily there since the age of 25. Because of my moves, Iā€™ve absorbed the many nuances of American culture and people and weave unique characters and settings into my stories. As a member of The Writers' League of Texas, I attend writing conferences and workshops and author events whenever possible. Iā€™ve completed my third book-length manuscript and have a deep affection for librarians and independent booksellers.

On the side, I read, bake, thrift, do yoga, and keep my animals alive on our Texas Hill Country property.
